In September 1998 he obtained the Master of Science (MSc) in Communications from the Dept. of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Bradford (Bradford, UK). Upon completion of the MSc, he stayed at Bradford as a research assistant conducting work on mobile communications. This work was partially funded by Mobile VCE (Core 1). He obtained the PhD degree (doctorate) in May 2002 with a thesis entitled "Reconfigurable Structures for Direct Equalisation in Mobile Receivers". In September 2006 he obtained (by distance learning, 2003-2006) the Master of Science (MSc) in Statistics from the Dept. of Probability and Statistics, University of Sheffield (Sheffield, UK). He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Mathematical Optimisation Methods from UNED (Spanish distance-learning university).
